When former US Ambassador to Panama, Phyllis M. Powers, wanted to create a cross-cultural art exchange program for Panamanian youth in 2010, her office reached out to us for help.
Upon hearing her objectives and goals for the initiative, we were honored to help her – and our country. Given the sensitive nature of the request, we knew renowned Los Angeles artist and muralist Man One would be perfect for the project, given his reputation as an arts educator and community leader working with youth in Los Angeles.
In August 0f 2010, we received American diplomatic credentials in Man One’s name and he soon left to for Panama where he would teach kids about art, consult with politicians about the important role art can play in lifting children up out of tough socio-economics and be interviewed about these issues on national television. Even national beauty pageant winner Miss Panama Anyoli Abrego became a fan of Man One’s art and passion for kids.
