RIPE: A Wine Show About Art Tasting

Making wine relevant to Millennials

” Making good wine is a skill. Fine wine is an art.”
— Robert Mondavi

Fine wine is an art. This is the inspiration behind RIPE, a wine show about art tasting that we curated in Los Angeles in 2011. As an art gallery exhibition, RIPE transformed wine barrels, wine bottles, wine glasses and even wine corks into cutting-edge contemporary art created by some of today’s most exciting urban and graffiti artists, namely Gustavo, Man One, Marka27, CHAZ, Asylum and Sherm. These and other exciting contemporary artists painted, sketched and sculpted their unique creative vision onto used wine barrels, bottles, glasses and corks, transforming them into one-of-a-kind pieces of art. Wineries and wine companies that participated in this first-of-its-kind art exhibit were Plata Wine in Paso Robles, CA., Washington State based Charles Smith Wines, Napa-based Vinum Cellars, Sonoma, CA based wine barrel restoration experts ReCoop and Napa, CA based wine cork manufacturer M.A. Silva Corks USA. Each participating company hosted private tasting parties during the exhibit.
