When the historic City of Pasadena California decided to build a new convention center, they knew it was important to have public art installations inside the building to communicate the city’s historic commitment to the arts. To this end, the city’s acclaimed cultural arts department put out an RFP and asked us to submit a proposal.
In keeping with our belief a community is only as strong as its people, and there is no real community without engaging the populace, our proposal was simple: make Pasadena residents the heroes of our installation. In fact, make the beautiful faces of Pasadena’s people the centerpiece, front and center, over the main entrance for everyone to see how Pasadena values its citizens.
Our proposal won.
